Who We Are
Founded in 1927, as The National Conference of Christians and Jews (NCCJ), The California Conference for Equality and Justice (CCEJ), is a human relations
organization dedicated to confronting bias, bigotry and racism in America. CCEJ promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, conflict resolution and education.
What We Do
CCEJ views its fundamental role as breaking down the distance between people by promoting understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through advocacy, conflict resolution and education. CCEJ focuses upon relationships holistically across racial, cultural, gender, socioeconomic and religious groupings. This focus on inclusion sets CCEJ apart from many other community-based organizations.
Defining Our Work
CCEJ focuses on a broad range of "isms," the multiple manifestations of discrimination and oppression that are based on one's religion, race, gender, and sexual orientation, from bias crimes to racial profiling - the challenges ahead are real. To confront and overcome them, CCEJ maintains an abiding commitment to work with decision-makers and leaders to support their work in building a more inclusive and civil society.
Always committed to combating bias, bigotry and racism, CCEJ brings diverse people together through honest conversations and programs that educate and improve human relations in our schools, workplaces, businesses, among faith groups and in our communities. Reaching people where they live, CCEJ is helping to build communities that more fully include people of diverse racial, religious and cultural heritage.

This merger strengthened operations and united the vast experience and resources from the three regions to maximize community impact. Our headquarters are in Long Beach and we now serve all of southern California.
The California Conference for Equality and Justice, along with 20 other former NCCJ offices, is a member of the National Federation of Just Communities.
